About
Established 2009, and still doing the same thing.
DocuSoft was registered in Abuja in 2009 to do one thing: make institutional records findable, and keep them accounted for.
A word from the Managing Director
Information is the asset most organisations manage worst.
DocuSoft was built around a plain belief. Information is one of the most valuable assets an organisation holds, and it is the one most often left to look after itself. When a record is hard to find, trapped in a paper file, or disconnected from the process that depends on it, the institution loses time, takes on risk it cannot see, and makes decisions on incomplete evidence.
We started in 2009 doing document management and digitisation. The work has widened since then into records management, electronic document systems, process automation, information governance and secure destruction, but the object has not changed. We are still trying to make sure that when somebody asks for a file, it can be produced.
What shaped this company was the range of institutions willing to let us near their records: federal ministries and the State House, energy and power companies, banks and development finance, diplomatic missions and international organisations. I am particularly proud of the electronic document management deployment we completed for the Delta State Government, and of the trust placed in us by NNPC Limited, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, the British High Commission, the Embassies of Switzerland, Ireland and Australia, Africa Finance Corporation, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, the International Organization for Migration and Egbin Power.
Nigeria should not only consume the technology it uses. We should be able to develop it, own it, deploy it and support it, and the people doing that work should be here. Every operator, supervisor and consultant on our projects is Nigerian and trained by us. That is not a tender return, it is the reason a registry in Abuja can get help the same morning it stops working.
What comes next is not simply more digitisation. It is information environments where documents, records, workflow and policy work together well enough to improve how an institution actually serves the public. On behalf of everybody here, thank you to the clients and partners who have taken us this far.

What we are
A document and records management firm. We digitise, index, store, track and dispose of records for institutions that are answerable for them, and we deploy the systems that keep those records usable afterwards.
We are platform independent. We hold accreditations across several document management systems and we choose against the client's requirement. Where a client's need is met by a platform we do not represent, we say so.
We also build our own software where the market does not serve Nigerian institutions properly. Appraisium, our performance management system for ministries, is the current example.
How we are set up
Our own archive facility in Jabi, our own scanning bureau, and our own operators. Nothing central to the chain of custody is subcontracted, because a promise about custody is only as good as the weakest party holding the file.
A permanent core team in Abuja, with project crews recruited, vetted, trained and supervised for the scale of each engagement. A ministry wide digitisation runs with dozens of prepared staff on site. The core team does not change.
Consultants are drawn from records management, systems implementation and public sector administration. Several have worked inside the institutions we serve, which shortens a lot of conversations.

Nigerian content
Built here, staffed here, supported here.
Every operator, supervisor and consultant on our projects is Nigerian and trained by us. Local capacity is not a box we tick for a tender return, it is the only way a registry in Abuja gets support the same morning it stops working.
Where we can use a qualified local supplier we do. Where a client needs their own staff to run the system after we leave, transferring that knowledge is written into the scope rather than offered as an extra.
The facility
Our own archive, our own operators.
Barcoded boxes, controlled access, and a movement history on every item. Retrieval is by request, delivered physically or scanned and sent the same day.
Clients and institutions evaluating us are welcome to visit. It answers more questions than a proposal does, which is why we offer it early rather than late.
How we work
Four commitments, and they are testable.
Assess before proposing
We will not quote for a system before seeing what you hold. A proposal written without an assessment is a guess with a price on it.
Recommend against ourselves
If the right answer is a smaller engagement, or a platform we do not sell, that is the answer you will get.
Log everything
Movement, access, scanning batches and destruction. If it cannot be evidenced afterwards it did not happen.
Train the staff
A system nobody was taught to use becomes a filing cabinet with a licence fee.
Group
DocuSoft and Appraisium.
DocuSoft is the services business: capture, storage, systems and training, independent of any single platform. Appraisium is our own product, a performance management system for ministries, departments and agencies, and it carries its own name for that reason.
Come and see the facility.
The Jabi archive is open to clients and to institutions evaluating us. It tells you more than a proposal will.
